Hearsay Cover #21

Cover of Issue 21, July/August 1997
In-house Art Director: Linda Cobb
Editor: Linda Forman
Logo Design, Original Art Director: Jeri Heiden

Hearsay was the in-house newsletter of Warner Bros. and Reprise Records; it ceased publication following the February 1998 issue. Each issue was eight pages, and was printed in two colors (black and a Pantone color). I'm presenting three covers and three pages from previous issues as examples of the design used in the magazine.

As noted under the Guide catalog page, I realize it's ridiculous to represent a predominately typographic page with a 300 x 400-pixel image. I've completely relinquished the notion that anything but the largest type might be legible here, and hope only that this extremely low-res offering might give you an idea of the way the publication is designed. Contact me if you'd like to see a copy of the actual publication.

Confession: This isn't the cover of issue 21 that ultimately went to press; at the last minute, it was decided that I should replace the main image with a more contemporary -- and less racy -- photo of the interview subject, Wendy Griffiths (who was, it was disclosed in the article, a model). I still prefer this cover....
